Chcogum HG – Hydrolyzed Sclerotium Gum

Chcogum HG is a big sugar molecule (polysaccharide) that is used as a natural thickening and gelling agent. It is similar to the more commonly used Xanthan Gum, and the two are also often combined to create gel formulas or to stabilize emulsions.

Chcogum HG represents the new generation of moisturizing ingredients. Traditional moisturizing skincare products mainly rely on occlusion, humectant, and emollient ingredients to provide a moisturizing effect in products such as ointments, w/o creams or lotions. The newest generation of moisturizing ingredients contains barrier repair ingredients. The most common originally present in the human epidermis are the Ceramides, which help replace the deficient lipids in some skin problems by stratum corneum barrier impairment.

Sclerotium Gum is a natural water soluble polymer derived from the fermentation of  Sclerotium rolfsii, a filamentous mushroom. It is used to thicken and stabilise products.

Due to its efficiency as a thickening agent, emulsifier and stabilizer, sclerotium gum is used in numerous cosmetic and personal care formulations.

Chcogum HG has excellent water-holding capacity, promotes stronger stratum corneum structure and reduces damage to the skin. Chcogum HG also improves the roughness and texture of the skin, and ensures that both functions can control the moisturizing effect of the skin, through the complete structure of the stratum corneum to lock in the loss of water in the skin, and use of water-retaining substances such as polyvalent alcohols and polysaccharides to compensate for the loss of transdermal epidermal moisture
