MelaTrepein is a next-generation cosmetic active designed to restore the skin’s natural clarity through a novel dual-target mechanism that focuses on melanosome turnover rather than directly suppressing melanocytes. By activating autophagy within keratinocytes, MelaTrepein accelerates the degradation of existing melanosomes while simultaneously reducing melanosome uptake through inhibition of Protease Activated Receptor-2 (PAR-2). This unique mechanism enables visible skin brightening with a higher safety profile than many conventional depigmenting ingredients because normal melanocyte function and melanin production remain unaffected.
Clinical and laboratory studies demonstrated accelerated melanosome degradation, reduced intracellular melanosome accumulation, suppression of PAR-2 expression, and significant improvements in hyperpigmentation after four weeks of twice-daily application. MelaTrepein is ideal for products targeting age spots, post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation (PIH), uneven skin tone, melasma-prone skin, and overall radiance enhancement.
