SpecWhite®AI

Ascorbyl Isostearate (SpecWhite®AI) is an oil-soluble derivative of Ascorbic Acid. It hydrolyzes into ascorbic acid under the action of an enzyme when absorbed into skin. This product overcomes the deficiency of ascorbic acid, which is easily oxidised and changes colour. It can inhibit the generation of melanin and accelerate the synthesis of collagen. It also has the function of anti-oxidation

Ascorbyl Isostearate, a Vitamin C derivative and source, is made from ascorbic acid and isostearic acid. It can be used as an antioxidant in cosmetic products in concentrations between 0.01 and 0.2%.

The main effect of Ascorbyl Isostearate for consumers is in the protection of skin cells against UVB and UVA radiation, and with regard to the formulation, the protection of vegetable oils against oxidation.

Ascorbyl Isostearate accelerates collagen synthesis in the skin and is therefore also suitable for use in anti-aging products

Ascorbyl Isostearate reduces melanin formation in the skin and is therefore used in skin whitening products. By an enzymatic reaction the Ascorbyl Isostearate is hydrolysed into ascorbic acid and fatty acid. The released ascorbic acid prevents the oxidation step from melanin and thus has a skin-lightening effect.
