SpecKare ALA – Azelaic Acid
Research has shown that Azelaic acid can significantly diminish the appearance of skin blemishes, help fade post-acne marks and other discolorations, refine the skin’s surface, and reveal a more even skin tone. It can even reduce skin sensitivity and is compatible with any skin type.

Azelaic acid is a dicarboxylic acid. It works on skin as a gentle leave-on exfoliant which helps unclog pores and refine the skin’s surface. Azelaic acid also significantly lessens factors in skin that lead to sensitivity and delivers antioxidant benefits!

Properties:

• Works against acne-causing Propionibacterium acnes (P. acnes)
• Works on the cells that line hair follicles by changing the way they mature and proliferate, which decreases follicular ‘plugging’ and helps prevent blackheads, whiteheads.
• Has anti-keratinizing effect on normal skin and reduces the synthesis of filamentous keratin and prevents excessive keratinization of hair follicles.
• Inhibits the production of reactive oxygen free radicals (ROS) and exerts anti-inflammatory effects.
• Inhibits tyrosinase activity and pigment synthesis in abnormal pigment cells and inhibits DNA synthesis and mitochondrial enzyme activity in abnormal pigment cells
• Helps reduction in malignant cell proliferation activity, and prevents malignant melanoma from developing in freckles.
• Especially effective for PIH – post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation (that often comes with acne) and melasma – but not for lightening age spots
